Learn FERS · The Logic Layer · Preview

How Learn FERS keeps its math honest and its laws current.

This page is a preview. It walks you through what the Logic Layer does, why it matters, and what makes it different. Inside the platform, every calculator shows the formula behind its result and the statute it cites, and the full Sources catalog and change log are open to members. A 7-day money-back guarantee will apply at launch.

Part 1 · Continuous federal-law watch

AI sources it. A human approves it. Then it ships.

Federal retirement rules change. Bend points reset every January. The IRS publishes new contribution limits. Congress occasionally rewrites whole pieces of the system. Our pipeline catches each change within days and never publishes an update without a human review.

Step 1

Monitor

AI scans the Federal Register, OPM benefit notices, IRS notices, SSA COLA releases, Congress.gov, and tracker feeds. Monthly.

Step 2

Draft

AI extracts the exact statute, effective date, and proposed update to every affected formula, tooltip, and lesson.

Step 3

Verify

Each change is cross-checked against two or more independent sources, for example Pub. L. plus OPM guidance plus IRS Notice.

Step 4

Human review

A human reviews citation accuracy, formula correctness, and educational framing. Nothing ships without sign-off.

Step 5

Publish

Calculators, tooltips, lessons, and the public Sources log update together. Members see a changelog.

Real example · Social Security Fairness Act

Pub. L. 118-273Implemented

Social Security Fairness Act · January 5, 2025

Pub. L. 118-273 was signed on January 5, 2025, repealing both the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset for benefits payable after December 2023. Within a week our pipeline had updated the WEP/GPO calculator, the WEP/GPO tooltip, the relevant lesson, and the public Sources page. All sourced to the statute and dated. Members saw a changelog entry. CSRS retirees received actionable information.

Part 2 · Auditable mathematics

Show the formula. Cite the law. Verify against multiple methodologies.

This is one of the few federal retirement tools on the planet that actually shows you the algorithms. Every calculation is statute-anchored. Every modelled assumption, including inflation, COLA, compounding, withdrawal rates, and life expectancy, is benchmarked against multiple published methodologies and best practices.

Formula shown

Every calculator shows the formula behind its result and the statute it cites.

Multi-source verification

Each modelled assumption is validated against two or more independent methodologies.

Best-practice audit

Inflation, COLA, compounding, withdrawal rate, and life expectancy models benchmarked against peer-reviewed standards.

Statute-anchored

Every formula links to its underlying U.S.C., CFR, or IRS Notice citation. 17 laws tracked.

Part 3 · Contextually aware AI

An assistant that reads your plan, then answers.

The AI assistant is not a generic chatbot. It reads everything you have saved in My Plan first, then answers questions in the context of your actual numbers: your years of service, your high-three, your TSP balance, your family situation, your retirement target.

Every answer cites the statute. The assistant explains rules and shows math. It does not recommend products, prescribe a claim date, or give tax advice. That is education, not advice, and that distinction is the whole point.

Included with Premium and Immersion plans.

Why this is rare

Most retirement tools hide the math. We do not.

Retirement projection software usually locks the algorithms behind proprietary models with vague disclaimers. You enter inputs, you receive a chart, you trust the vendor.

When the engine is a black box, you cannot push back when it is wrong. When the source is missing, you cannot tell the projection from the pitch. Learn FERS makes the whole pipeline visible to every member. Law, formula, assumption, computation. All the time.

How we use AI

AI does the watching. Humans do the teaching.

We use AI for what AI is good at: scanning thousands of pages of federal-register filings every month, drafting change summaries, cross-referencing statutes, and proposing updates. Then we use humans for what humans are good at: judgment, teaching, and accountability. No AI-generated content reaches our members without a human reviewer signing off.

AI sources

Scan, draft, propose. Speed and breadth at federal-register scale.

Humans review

Accuracy, framing, and accountability. Every law change has a named reviewer before it ships.

Humans teach

Lessons are written by people and fact-checked against statute. The AI never writes the curriculum.
